Finally! A list of rainy day songs that don't all have 'rain' in the titles! What a novel idea.
Warning: Some recommended songs may contain explicit content. Marked with an (E) next to the song title.
"It's U" by Cavetown
This song gets you RIGHT in the feels. It's calm, relaxing, and makes you want to cry at the same time. Soft acoustics and a slightly electronic indie feel combined with haunting vocals is incredible.
10/10, available on Spotify
"Tropical Rain" by Social House (E)
Well, this is funky and definitely pop. These producers are best known for their work with Ariana Grande, but they do have some incredible solo songs. This song makes me want to dance!
8/10, available on Spotify
"Dance to This" by Troye Sivan ft. Ariana Grande (E)
This was definitely created to be played on a rain day. With soft pop influences and great vocals, trust me when I say you should ride this wave of indie feels.
9/10, available on Spotify
"It's You" by Ali Gatie
Yes, this is a different song than the first one. Now, the vocals here make you want to dance in the raindrops with your significant other. Again with the soft acoustic! A great song for contemplation.
9/10, available on Spotify
"Buttercup" by Jack Stauber
Funky electro-indie-pop-rock that I can't get enough of! This song deserves its own aesthetic. More upbeat than some of the other songs on here, too.
7.5/10, available on Spotify
"SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK" by Joji (E)
In the dark or in the rain, makes no difference. Again, puts you right in the feels. Indie combined with pop influences, the song of the day.
9/10, available on Spotify
"You're Somebody Else" by flora cash
Indie-feel pop with acoustic overlays, this song combines subtle harmonies and quiet yet strong lyrics for a great song for contemplation. This is literally the song that sent me back to my ex, so maybe I should put a warning on here!
9.5/10, available on Spotify.
"Ophelia" by the Lumineers
Indie-folk and the ONLY song I like that somehow has a tambourine, this is also more upbeat but passes the rainy day vibe check. The Lumineers is one of my favorite bands, and you'll see them on here often.
8.5/10, available on Spotify
"Fallingforyou" by the 1975.
This is the softest and most 'epiphany'-ish song I can think of to be honest. On the YouTube page of the official audio of this song, one of the comments is 'don't fall in love with the moment, fall in love with the girl'. This is exactly the kind of warning this song should come with. It really is that powerful.
8.5/10, available on Spotify
I hope you were able to find at least one song you can enjoy! I think there's something for everyone on this playlist.
