Top-Notch Books to Fill Your Time During Quarantine (Pt 1!)

Time is definitely not of the essence during this insanely stressful - yet surprisingly dull - period of history. Here are my recommendations of books to read (in no particular order) and why!

Warning: Some of these books may be too difficult for just anyone- whether that be 'romance'-wise, politics, or something else, if you're under the age of thirteen, ask a parent or guardian's advice, please!

1. Naked Eye by Chris Johansen

This book is for you mystery buffs out there. It's a solidly time-consuming read. Although it certainly has twist and turns you'll enjoy, it's definitely possible to put it down if you realize there's a deadline you forgot. 8/10 overall!

2. Divergent by Veronica Roth

For my YA readers, this is a classic and you've definitely read it before. Although it's too suspenseful to achieve the same level of 'comfort food' that Harry Potter has, this book is still great to re-read during our own dystopian-seeming times. 9.5/10 overall!

3. Dear Martin by Nic Stone - Wow. This book is heart-wrenching. Although it's a short read, just a couple hundred pages, it is still very thought-provoking. In this book, a young man struggles with his identity after being mistakenly arrested. No spoilers, but if you don't cry, you're a robot. 9/10 overall!

4. Born a Crime by Trevor Noah - As my favorite late-night comedian and my potential future husband, before I read this book, I loved Trevor Noah for his comedy (of course). After I read this book, I had a new understanding of the hardships that he went through growing up, and of course, this book was incredibly hilarious. It does take some time to read, but it is definitely worth it. 9.5/10 overall!

5. Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard - I'm going to be completely honest. I read the first book, thought it was decent, and then picked up the second. I got completely sucked in! If you are looking for something to fill your time, this series is a great way to do it. The series overall? 9/10

Keep reading for my other five!
